We are a 1st generation dairy farm in north central Maryland. Our herd consists of 800 cattle (mostly Jerseys), 400 of which are milked twice a day, 365 days a year.

We have an amazing team that helps care for our girls every single day.

Keep scrolling to learn more about owners, David & Katie.

We were both 3rd generation farmers when we left our family dairies. (Katie in PA and David in VT)

In 2009, with a loan for 90 cows, prayer and hard work we started Cow Comfort Inn Dairy in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

After renting facilities in VA and PA for four years, we bought this farm in 2013.

People often ask, "Why Maryland?" It was a compromise between us. David wanted to go North and Katie wanted to go south.

David Pyle

This farm boy was raised on his family's registered Jersey dairy farm in Addison County, Vermont. A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill, NY, David's passion has always been taking care of cows.

It was his crazy dream to start this farm. He loves managing the farm and making sure the girls are always comfortable, happy and healthy.

David enjoys hunting, fishing, grilling, his wife's baking and hanging out with his dog, Cletus.

Katie Dotterer-Pyle

Katie grew up on her family dairy in Central Pennsylvania. With degrees in business, education and Spanish, she teaches Spanish part-time at a local high school as well as online Spanish courses she tailored specifically for the dairy industry.

She is passionate about engaging the non-farming public in conversations about agriculture. She does this through public speaking, farm tours and via social media with her signature #AskFarmersNotGoogle

She loves traveling when she gets the chance, reading thrillers, singing, dancing, playing piano and guitar, palm trees, dark chocolate and tea!
